How it Works

By leveraging data and digital tools, the Sustainable Land Initiative (SLI) can support the immediate needs of landowners and farmers while transforming working and natural lands into hubs of regenerative practices.

Here’s how it works:

The SLI Way:

Intake: Landowner requests support from their local resource conservation district (RCD).

Assess: RCDs use data-driven analyses to identify sustainable land-use opportunities and funding sources.

Prioritize: Landowners receive tailored overviews of sustainable practices, including costs, timelines, impacts and funding sources

Fund: RCDs secure funding through grants and partnerships.

Implement: RCD staff covers equipment, expertise and labor to achieve sustainable projects, reducing landowners’ time and costs. Rental equipment available through the RCD.

Measure Impact: Monitor and assess the impact of practices on water use reduction and retention, soil health and economic yield
