What are partners are saying about the Sustainable Land Initiative:

“Our collaborative partnership with US-LT RCD boosts our progress and informs our efforts. From measuring irrigation saturation in the orchard to organizing cover crop seed to sponsoring pollinator hedges, we appreciate and rely on the efforts and expertise of the RCD team. They’re also fun to hang out with and discuss our mutual obsessions with land stewardship and sustainable agriculture.”
— Kelly Cooper, Open Source Ag

“The US-LT RCD has been instrumental in helping us to restore critical pollinator habitat on our farm. We are reintroducing species that have been removed for centuries. This work would not have been possible without their help, as well as funding from the WCB. Nine months into the project, we have witnessed life flourishing in our native food and pollinator hedgerow. Bumble bees, hummingbirds, solitary bees, butterflies and a handful of other species have been flocking to the site. We convene monthly to remove weeds and enjoy the profound sense of peace and nourishment that the space offers to its visitors. Onward!”
— Jesse Trace, Traceland Farms

“I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to work with the USL-LT / Sustainable Land Initiative team on a large native California tree planting project on my ranch. Their vast breadth of knowledge and diligence was met with a striking comradery and kindness that palpably extended beyond social ties and into the ecosystem itself. We now have 54 new oaks and black walnut trees, in a pasture that was deforested decades ago to farm hay. This is a gift to future generations of all life in proximity, from bacteria and lichen to insects and birds, bobcats, cattle, humans, and the list goes on. This is the cream on top work of land stewardship that is the most rewarding and impactful, and I could not have done it without the generosity of the Sustainable Land Initiative and the US-LT RCD.
